Top speakers secured for summer school
MADE has secured an exciting line-up of speakers for this year’s CABE urban design summer school.
Chief Planner and design champion at Department of Communities and Local Government Steve Quartermain, Birmingham City University professor of landscape architecture and author of Overlooking the Visual Kathryn Moore and professor of ubanism at Mackintosh School of Architecture Alan Simpson.

Learning Cities - Professor John Worthington - 15th April
We are delighted to welcome Prof John Worthington to give April’s Talking Cities lecture on Thursday 15th April, 6.15pm at Birmingham Conservatoire. Chair of CABE’s Building Futures and co-founder of DEGW, John Worthington will speak on Learning Cities and will refer to his pioneering methods of adapting urban and space planning techniques to meet the needs of the emerging knowledge economy.£10 on the door.

High demand for Design Review
Demand for Design Review is as high as ever with the panel reviewing six schemes in March and a further five lined up for April. March saw an all Sandwell day with two masterplans, a housing development and proposals for two new swimming pools coming before the panel. April will see proposals for the centres of Leamington Spa and Wolverhampton coming under the design review spotlight. To book a scheme into Design Review contact Bianca or David.
MADE supports Worcester ambition
MADE is helping the city of Worcester with its ambition to become a first rank cathedral and university city. We have been participating in the city centre masterplanning process which is led by David Locke Associates. A complementary design support assignment led by MADE expert panel member Julia Kashdan-Brown is reviewing the city’s approach to public art. As part of this initiative a MADE workshop ‘The Making of the Modern City’ will explore the role of public art and contemporary design in the historic city.
